Traditional 'Rangoli' (coloured powder) designs greet the procession at the annual 'Gadda Yatra' festival in Solapur, Maharashtra, India. The festival has been celebrated for many centuries by the Lingayat community in south Maharashtra and north Karnataka and coincides with the Hindu festival of 'Makar Sankrant' in January. It pays obeisance to their patron saint 'Siddheshwar' or 'Siddharamaiyya', who was known for his kindness and noble deeds for the needy.
