Yellow taxi and public transport buses on Howrah bridge in Kolkata (Calcutta), West Bengal, India. Howrah bridge, commissioned by the British government in 1943 CE before India’s independence from British rule in 1945 CE, has now been renamed ‘Rabindra Setu’. It is 650 meters in length and 30 meters wide. It carries a heavy vehicular load each week due to proximity to Howrah station, the central business district of Kolkata and several wholesale markets.
